All of a sudden I've decided to write a new blog about the everyday occurances in life. The thing I love about life is that just when you think you knew everything and there isn't possibly anything new that anybody can teach you - something comes and hits you in the face like a frying pan.
Recently I've been watching Oprah's reality show about behind the scenes of her last series of her successful chat show. To have such an up close and personal look at someone who has achieved so much in her life and rose to the top given that she struggled through a life of adversity is inspirational and astounding.
The idea that one person can have such an impact on society and culture due to there outlook and morales on life is extremly profund. If she expressed her support for a book it went in the best sellers list, if she liked a sandwich then that would sell out. Organised madness but I can't help but feel attracted to the hysteria around this woman. I mean she even helped get President Obama get elected.
I love the fact that Oprah even talks about spirituality on television. Wouldn't it be great if in the UK we were able to discuss things like this in such a forum. Instead any mention of things we can't explain on a physical or scientific level is met with groans of "You don't believe in that mumbo jumbo bollocks do ya?!?!".
I love the idea of someone who has everything in the world that money can buy and still looks for a deeper truth outside of herself and material possessions. Someone who talks about there emotions and feeling with the public.
All you have to do go on the London Underground Tube to see everyone looking miserable, unfriendly and pissed off with life in general. Society needs more people like Oprah Winfrey to try and bring people together and talk about whats really going on in the world. I don't just mean on a political level.
How you perceive the world and the people in it has a massive effect on what you get back in life. We all know the types of negative people that see life as "The glass is half empty". These people drain you of energy and are always quick to judge. When the geezer who invented the light bulb told his mates about his idea, I can imagine him and his muckers were all sitting round a poxy candle and they told him he was a plonker. As a society we need to start championing the idea that anything is possible and attainable and encourage folk that there is more to life beyond our own ego's, status and reputation.
I mean I don't wanna contradict myself here - I like being cakeo bakeo more then anyone else on a night out. But I like the fact I can get on with a night of cider and also enjoy a bottle of champers too.
I hope even though Oprah's Tv show is ending in the states, her legacy lives on. I hope that the caring and sincere relationship she had with her viewers can be mirror'd in Britain. We need to be discussing such books as "The Secret" and the idea of "Law Of Attraction" on a mass scale in the UK. For starters its obvious to everyone that when the weather is good, the morale of the whole country lifts. Why can't we speak and discuss a positive mental attitude on a daily basis rather then watch some of the slit your own wrists drama's that they seem to be constantly pumping us.
I'm not saying we can change the world here, I'm not trying to be Bono. But I know that at times when I've been down in my life, a change of perspective had helped me out of the blues by focusing on joy and happiness within my own thoughts. Remember imagination is the preview of life's coming attractions.
